Tree Pruning
The heart of good arboriculture: crown reductions to bring a tree back into proportion, thinning to let light and air through, deadwood removal for safety, and pollarding where a species and situation call for it. Done to proper cut points so the tree heals cleanly and keeps its natural form — as with the fruit tree we crown-thinned by hand over a client's flowerbeds.
Tree Felling & Removal
Where a tree has to come out, we take it down safely — straight felling in open ground, or roped, rigged sectional dismantling where there are fences, buildings, glass or ponds below. The dead poplar we removed beside a summer house came down section by section, with a climber up top and the ground crew guiding every piece to a clear landing.
Hedge Maintenance
Overgrown conifer hedges brought back to a manageable height and a crisp line, formal hedges kept sharp, and old hedges taken out entirely when it's time for something new. One client had the height of a large conifer taken down and shrubs cleared in the same visit — smooth from start to a tidy finish.
Stump Removal
A felled tree usually leaves a stump. We grind or dig them out to whatever depth you need — one client wanted stumps removed to 500mm below ground level so the garden could be reclaimed for lawn and planting. Roots chased where they matter, and the hole backfilled and levelled.
Tree Survey & Reports
Independent assessment of what you have and what it needs: species ID, health and structural condition, and risk analysis for trees near buildings or boundaries. For development and planning we produce BS5837-compliant tree surveys and constraints plans, so trees are protected properly and your application isn't held up.
TPO & Consent Handling
Many trees in the Chilterns are protected by a TPO or sit within a conservation area, where work needs written council consent first. We check the status before quoting, prepare and submit the application on your behalf, and only start once consent is in place — so you stay the right side of the law.
Site Clearance
Whole plots brought back under control: overgrown gardens cleared, ivy stripped from walls and trees, brambles and self-set saplings removed, and the arisings chipped or taken away. We work for homeowners reclaiming a garden and for commercial sites and developers needing ground cleared before the next stage.
Emergency & Storm Damage
When a tree comes down in a storm or a limb splits over a roof, drive or road, we answer day or night. Neighbour trees & boundary disputes
An overhanging branch, a hedge that's got out of hand, a root under a wall — tree issues between neighbours are common and awkward.
